What about the future of AI?

There is a significant challenge now facing every organisation.

Artificial intelligence is changing the way we work at extraordinary speed.

When people ask me about AI, they often expect me to talk about what the technology will be able to do. But I find myself returning to a different question. Not:

“What will AI be able to do for us?” But:

“What will become even more important for us to keep doing?”

Technology has always changed the way we work. It has never changed why people matter. In fact, the more capable our technology becomes, the more intentional we may need to become about our humanity.

AI will become increasingly capable of analysing information, recognising patterns and processing enormous amounts of data.

But leadership has never simply been about intelligence. It is about

Judgement.

Character.

Empathy.

Curiosity.

Wisdom.

Knowing when to ask another question.

Recognising the dignity of another person.

Understanding what deserves our attention—and what cannot be reduced to a number.

These qualities don’t become obsolete as technology advances. They become more important.

The challenge for leaders is not simply to make organisations more efficient.

It is to ensure that innovation serves humanity rather than humanity serving innovation.

How do we use technology to amplify what is best about people?

How do we ensure that efficiency doesn’t replace empathy?

That speed doesn’t replace wisdom?

That intelligence doesn’t replace integrity?

Those aren’t technology questions.

They are leadership questions.
